IRRI Genebank features at the AI for Good Global Summit

Amazon’s Chief Technology Officer praises the International Rice Genebank’s use of machine learning to make seed sorting more efficient.

Werner Vogels, CTO at Amazon, has highlighted IRRI’s work as an example of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to help feed a growing world population.

In his presentation at the AI for Good Summit, he explained how the International Rice Genebank uses machine learning to sort seeds more quickly. This means fewer backlogs, reducing the risk of damage to accessions before they can be safely stored.
